The
Regulated Society

Modern
computer technology is helping the
world to connect. But
the same tools are used for control and surveillance limiting our
freedom, often with the excuse that it's a small, temporary action.
But eventually they mount up to huge and irreversible changes.

The big computer firms has added to the problem. They want their
PC's to think for you, checking your habits, telling you what to
do,
blocking you at times. No matter what these firms say, it's not
for
your convenience. They too want to control you, for example by
creating dependence and conformity to their standards.

All this limits our diversity & flexibility. Also because our
IT society
requires things to be categorized. Say a form requires you to list
yourself as a student, employee or retired - while in reality you're
all/none of this. Society forces you to distort who you really
are.
With linked databases, it can cause a chain reaction of problems.

Life
was more simple and flexible before.
You could get a personal
talk about your unique case; and a smile could make a difference.
Now authorities claim to make things easy: Small firms can apply
for simple procedures, etc. Why not make it simple from start?

Sweden
is one example of a country
regulating & standardizing all things,
in order to make them simple & clear.
But instead, it leads to unnecessary
costs and paperwork - i.e. less simple.

stating that only fire trucks can drive
on the lawn. As if others ever would!
