Science
vs. Religion

Science and religion have common origins. Science evolved from
our need and zest to understand our surroundings, religion from
our inability to do that. In other words, we like to create our
own
universe, our own respective truths and realities, to help us feel
safe and hopeful - rather than living in uncertainty.

Creative beings as we are, this process has followed us through
history - resulting in creations ranging from gods and values, to
the stars made by TV reality shows. But are they really stars?
And are our values really universal?

Religious people often compare science and faith as two competing
worldviews, as if science was an unproved theory. But science is
not another belief. It's a METHOD. A way to learn stuff objectively.
Scientists don't mind being found wrong, if it advances knowledge.
Believers, like politicians, only seek to defend their cause.

Personally,
I love to chat about the mysteries of the cosmos, with
some friends over a glass of beer. But it stops there. I rather
live
in uncertainty - while keeping my curiosity and sense of wonder
-
than creating realities and believing in stuff that might be
wrong.

What's
going on out there?
Science is not another belief
to build your worldview on.
It's a method.
