Perils
of Narrow Debate

An inherited problem with the political debate today is the lack
of broad multi-factor perspectives, a problem often leading to
flawed stances. Especially the media is fueling
such simplified
debates, presenting only two sides: Are you for or against,
up
or down, one of those or one of them?
As if people can't handle
more than two views. But the world is not that simple.

The climate change debate is one example. Although Human
activities certainly plays a part in the current warming, there
are also many other factors involved: Different Earth cycles,
the Sun's shifting intensity, our journey through the galactic disc.
It is even possible that without man-made warming, we might
head toward a new Ice Age... These
things are never discussed.

Or look at the immigration debate in some countries: There are
only two sides arguing for and against... Those who fear a multi-
cultural society are usually the same people who say that we
can't afford more refugees. But these are different topics: one
emotional and one economical. They shouldn't be mixed.

...and the list of such two-sided debates is much longer!

Politics
and the media have
created a 2-sided worldview.
For or against, yes or no.
But in science, it won't work.
